The television year began with a huge bang, with the death of two characters beloved by viewers, Delphine Martin and Philippe Dupéré from STAT. Since then, the daily faithful have been devastated by this colossal turnaround in the situation and messages of love have been flooding in from everywhere on social networks, to the two talented actors who have been lighting up our evenings for several years.

On the sidelines of these revelations, we spoke with the friendly actor Patrick Labbé, who also had to experience significant mourning upon learning of the decision of the author Marie-Andrée Labbé. He was kind enough to confide in an interview which turned out to be particularly moving.

« What the author was looking for, I think, is precisely to give a kind of electric shock to the series, then so that she can surf on that for a little while », he told us straight away, visibly still struck by emotion. In doing so, he confirmed to us that it was not his decision to leave the popular series, which attracts nearly 1.5 million curious people every evening. “ I had been on District 31 for five years. It had been about three years since I continued on STAT. I would have continued for a while. »

It made me feel very sad. It was a feeling of rejection that I experienced. People didn’t reject me. It was me who felt like that.

« And then the questions came… Did I do something wrong? I wasn’t you good? For what? Why me? These are the questions that haunted me for several days “, he explains.

The actor tells us he received a call from his agent, the day before a big day of filming on STATto tell him that his character was going to die.

That meant it was a little jostled, jostling. I must have asked myself a million questions.

« It was a punch to the heart. Finally, a stroke of the scalpel, if you like, on the artery… », he told us, referring to the sad fate that his character experienced, the victim of a colleague in psychosis.

For Patrick Labbé, several questions seem to remain unanswered, although the author Marie-Andrée Labbé told him about her creative approach: “ The author sent me an email, explaining that it was her choice, that she accepted it, that she needed electroshock. »

The actor learned the news almost two months ago, when he was filming scenes with Marine Johnson, who played his daughter in STAT. At that moment, Rosalie’s character had just been attacked by her ex-lover.

« In short, it’s already been two months since I learned, since I lived, since I filmed, since all that is over. That means I’ve already been somewhere else. The pill has passed. It’s been a bad quarter of an hour, but like everything else, something will come up. There will be another project with lots of energy, full of good intentions. There, we are talking about a project that happened, a project that is finished. I turned the page, I went somewhere else. Then it was pleasant. I started on District 31 eight years ago. I continued with this same team, this same dynamic, this same routine for all these years. »

The actor is particularly optimistic when considering the future: “ That being said, I am restored to zen. I had a wonderful holiday season. I’m ready. I’m in good shape. I signed up for a volleyball, tennis and gym league. I go skiing. In short, I’m getting in shape for the next person who dares to bet on me. »

I grieve with you…

These are the words that Patrick Labbé used to express his state of mind, the day after the broadcast of the episode which changed everything, before adding: “ Maybe I can reassure people that I’ll be back. I don’t know where. I don’t know when. I don’t know in what. But I have no plans to retire. »

I regret no longer being part of this team, I loved my experience on STAT very much and I look forward to new challenges and new projects.

We bet that it won’t be long before a well-advised producer trusts him with another flourishing project! At least that is the wish we express.

A big thank you to Patrick Labbé, for his impeccable work in STAT and for this open-hearted interview.

STAT continues from Monday to Thursday at 7 p.m. on - and we bet that we are not at the end of our surprises.
