Terrorists attacked during the night from Monday to Tuesday certain sensitive points in the town of Nioro in the Sahel, in the southwest of Mali, not far from the border with Mauritania.

According to the general staff of the Malian Armies, “terrorists infiltrated in large numbers into the city with internal complicity attacked certain sensitive points in the city“. The attack particularly targeted the governorate of the city which was completely ransacked by the jihadists, according to sources on site. At the time of the attack, the governor and his family were traveling in Bamako, according to information obtained in the Malian capital.

Among the points that have been affected is also the park where goods coming from outside, via Mauritania in particular, are processed. The terrorists managed to set fire to the goods scanner and damaged some trucks.

After the attack and the destruction of the scanner, the truckers were forced to stay in Nioro du Sahel while awaiting the necessary authorizations from the Malian authorities and the securing of the area. Now, the road is reopened and the Moroccan truckers have all arrived at their destination, according to sources from Moroccans in Bamako and who are in continuous contact with the truckers who suffered the Nioro du Sahel attack.

Note that this attack occurred a few days after the kidnapping (December 26, 2024) followed by the announcement of the death of Thierno Amadou Hady Tall, grandson of Cheikh Oumar Tall and Caliph General of the Omarian brotherhood of Nioro of the Sahel who preached non-violence. He was the victim of a kidnapping claimed by the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM), a jihadist alliance affiliated with Al-Qaeda, during which he was injured.

After the attack, on the basis of intelligence, an offensive reconnaissance mission by the forces of the AES (Confederation of Sahel States), the vehicles and fuel stocks of the terrorists were located and destroyed around the town of Douna.
