The funeral of Jean-Marie Le Pen will take place on Saturday in La Trinité-sur-Mer, the vice-president of the National Rally Louis Aliot said on Wednesday. They will be held “in family privacy”, said Marine Le Pen’s ex-companion on TF1.

(Keystone-ATS) The founder of the National Front died Tuesday at the age of 96. In the past, he had expressed the wish to be buried in the family vault in La Trinité-sur-Mer, his hometown.
The Le Pens remain linked to the Breton town, where Marine Le Pen often spends her summer vacations in the family home. A setting which should remain conducive to contemplation, said Mr. Aliot, despite demonstrations by opponents in several cities on Tuesday evening to celebrate the death of the former far-right tribune.
“They are not going to come and demonstrate at a funeral. And if they do, I suppose that the State will make sure to keep them away,” said the mayor of Perpignan, who also confirmed that Ms. Le Pen had learned of the death of her father through the press, on returning from a trip to Mayotte.
“We were on the plane in Nairobi where we made a technical stopover, and it was upon landing” in the Kenyan capital “that the journalists who were on the flight informed us of the death.”
