EVA LIZA CISS DISPLAYS HER AMBITIONS ON THE STAGE

The artist Eva Liza and her production house “free To Be” are currently on tour in Senegal. she thus provided the first part of the Dakar inside festival concert by dadju and Tayc held on Saturday December 21, 2024 at the grand theater in Dakar. The artist presented to the press his strategy for positioning himself on the music scene market.

Eva Liza’s music is increasingly known to the Senegalese. The artist shared the stage of the Grand Bal on Saturday 04 with Youssou Ndour. Of Senegalese origin, Eva Liza Ciss, resident in Switzerland, chose the Senegalese capital to showcase her new hit “Kima Done”. Which immediately marks its penetration of this market in order to weave its web.

The artist is also socially engaged. In this sense, she initiated humanitarian works from which the Mariama Ba school of excellence in Gorée benefited. The young artist stood out through a duet, following a showcase, with Youssou Ndour on the Grand Théâtre esplanade. The singer’s titles, “Kima Done”, which translates, “Who I am” and the song, “Free To Be”, are both a way for the artist to express her origins, contrasting with the geography of her birth space in Switzerland composed of snow and mountains…

However, Eva Liza declares that she remains anchored in her Senegalese origins. Which makes the pop artist a mixed-race singer and who carries this heritage over her shoulder, particularly in the images of the video for the song, “Kima Done”. As for the composition of “Free To Be” which means, “Free to be”, the artist assumes that this first title actually sounds like a quest for identity. The title, written when she was only fifteen years old, is inspired by a metaphysical and/or identity question which consists of asking yourself: What do you want to be? And the answer contained in the chorus is unambiguous: “it’s about being a person who is free to be whoever they want to be.” The part of her African and Senegalese origins is, she says, highlighted by the image in the videos. In the images of “Kima Done”, for example, next to the mountains, Senegalese symbols are highlighted, notably the baobabs, the pink lake, etc., among other elements of its cultural mix. Fashion is also prominent in the artist’s clips with African style outfits. Choreography is also an important part of the creation of Eva Liza Ciss. The dance steps in her videos are inspired, she says, by the artist’s movements to give more of her own identity to her choreographic creation. She thus tells a story on stage. Eva Liza proclaims, in this respect, that she never goes on stage to say nothing. Finally, her ambition was to perform across the world to inspire dreams through the stories she tells through her music and choreography.
