A man in his twenties was killed, this Thursday January 2, 2025 in the middle of the day, during an altercation at the Angers station (Maine-et-Loire).

Shortly before 1 p.m., an argument broke out between several people on the upper square of the Saint-Laud stationbefore the victim took refuge in the station where she was hit with “several blows with one or more blunt objects”, specified Eric Bouillardprosecutor of the Republic of Angers to one AFP correspondentconfirming information from Courrier de l'Ouest.

The young man a succumbed to his injuries despite the intervention of emergency services.

No suspects arrested

No suspects were immediately arrested. The investigation was entrusted to the organized and specialized crime division.

Part of the station was closed to the public but without impact on rail traffic.

This Thursday evening, Christophe Béchumayor ofAngers and president ofAngers Loire Métropolewanted to express himself on social networks.

“I would like to express my fear after the murder which has just been committed near the train station in Angers. Thanks to the rescue and security forces who intervened quickly. »

The former minister posted a message of firmness. “We will not give in to violence. Our City must be safe, everyone must be able to live there in safety. Justice must be as firm as possible with the murderers. »
