CHAN 2025
Senegal, the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Nigeria and Mauritania have validated their qualifications for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled for February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The local football team of Senegal, defending champion, beat that of Liberia by 3-0 on Saturday at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium, validating its qualification for CHAN 2025.
The surprise of the CHAN qualifiers came from the Central African Republic, who eliminated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
The Central African Republic won 2-1 over Cameroon in Bafoussam on Saturday. In the first leg played in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), the Cameroonians beat the Central Africans (1-0).
The Central African Republic obtains its first qualification for CHAN, thanks to the rule of goals scored away.
For its part, Burkina Faso, beaten in the first leg (0-2) by Ivory Coast, reversed the situation. At the March 26 stadium in Bamako, the Stallions dominated the Elephants 2-0. The two countries were thus tied throughout the two rounds. Burkina Faso validated its qualification during penalties (4-2).
For its part, the Democratic Republic of Congo qualified, dominating Chad (3-1). For its part, Guinea beat Guinea-Bissau 2-1 in Bissau.
