Samsung is preparing to make a major change in its personalization strategy by deploying its Good Lock application globally with the release of One UI 7.
It took almost 10 years for Samsung’s Good Lock application to be available to everyone. Until now, Samsung had opted for limited regional availability of the app, which closed the door to many users looking for advanced customization options on their Galaxy smartphones.

Previously limited to select markets and exclusively available on the Galaxy Store, Good Lock will soon be accessible through both the Galaxy Store and the Google Play Storeand this, throughout the world. This expansion comes with a complete overhaul of Good Lock’s interface, focusing on better accessibility. A new “My Page” tab will simplify management of the different Good Lock settings, while an innovative filter system will help users quickly navigate through specific module features.
Samsung makes changes to Good Lock for the occasion
Notable additions to Good Lock’s capabilities in One UI 7 (Android 15) include improved customization of the home screen via the Home Up module. Users will be able to freely place icons and widgets without grid constraints, customize the appearance of folders and change home gesture animations. The Camera Assistant module will also receive an upgrade, introducing direct backup of videos to external USB-C storage devices.
The announcement was made via Samsung’s Korean community forum, where a member of the Good Lock team detailed the upcoming changes. The message confirmed that global rollout will coincide with the official release of One UI 7the beta version of which is scheduled for release in February 2025.

The good thing about Good Lock is that it allows for quite extensive user interface modifications. without requiring root access or complex modifications. This therefore makes it a valuable tool for users wanting to personalize their Galaxy devices.
Although specific release dates have not been announced, expanded availability is expected to roll out with One UI 7, starting with the Galaxy S24 series and gradually expanding to other eligible devices.
