This week, Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge returned to the spotlight, several months after the controversy where he allegedly made racist remarks.
While we didn’t initially know what set he was walking on, we later learned it was a holiday commercial for RD furnitureaccompanied by the spokesperson, Jérémy Demay. See the ad here.
In the advertisement, we can hear Jérémy Demay say: “ You know, at Meubles RD, they really cut corners to offer you the best prices. The only artist I could invite for the end of the year was someone who was really, really cheap. »
Jérémy Demay then indicates that the actor and host is available at the moment. To this, Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge retorts: “ There are many things that I am not, but available, yes. »
Now La Presse tells us that this advertisement was completely refused by the Canadian radio broadcaster.
In this sense, the State Corporation cited its internal policy, which specifies that the public broadcaster does not accept advertising messages that could place it “ at the center of a controversy or public debate », always according to The Press.
Following this refusal, a representative of RD furniture indicated to The Press that he understood the decision, while noting that the ad will be presented on TVA and Noovo. It is also a “good” marketing move for the retailer, which is on everyone’s lips at the moment.
It is therefore not at prime time, during Bye Bye 2024, that Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge will make his comeback on our screens.
