During Monday's match between the Blue Jackets and the Canadian, we understood that the Columbus players had on their hearts the words of Patrik Laine (on the losing mentality of the Blue Jackets), who spoke before the match.
That’s understandable.
The club canceled the tribute prepared for the Finn (it was to be presented during the match) and the war is between the former player and the organization. Yes, the marriage did end badly in Ohio last summer.
What Renaud Lavoie said yesterday was that the club was clearly looking to take Laine out of the game. And to do this, he was targeted.
But apart from the fact that he was targeted, we must understand that he was targeted for his shoulder operated on last year. CClearly, everyone in the Columbus locker room knew which one it was.
Obviously, this caused a reaction. But who is surprised here? It happens very often in the NHL, things like that.
You know that to injure Laine (or just to hurt him), there are two favorite places to target: the shoulder which hurt him at the start of 2024 and the knee which cost him two months of activities this fall.
The Columbus guys couldn't target his knee without it being dirty. But the shoulder? It’s done really well.
Because the blows are normally delivered to the shoulder, it was easy to do. And in my eyes, it is no coincidence that, in the name of prevention, Laine did not finish the match.
Because yes, everything suggests that Laine is not seriously injured. I could be wrong, but…
On the ESPN website, it is officially considered day-to-day. In my eyes, however, this is just a formality for a player who did not finish Monday night's match.
We will have more answers in two days, when CH resumes training on the sidelines of its return to play on Saturday, against Florida. Until then, the CH is on leave: don't wait for a development.
To be continued, therefore.
