This Sunday, December 22, 2024, two people died in a Labastide-sur-Bésorgues road accident. It was their 15-year-old son who raised the alarm after managing to escape from the vehicle with his dog.
On Sunday, December 15, a dramatic road accident mobilized 40 Ardèche firefighters in Labastide-sur-Bésorgues. A vehicle leaves the road and falls 70 meters before ending its course in the Besorgues river, reports France Blue.
On board was a family from Bollène: the parents, their son and their dog. By a miracle, Ernest, a 15-year-old teenager, managed to escape from the wreckage to alert the emergency services.
Despite the intervention of teams of divers, drones and firefighters, the parents, aged 46 and 47, could not be saved. The mother, Anne Lafumas, was director of the Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux media library, in Drôme.
Young Ernest was transported to Aubenas hospital, while the dog was treated by a veterinarian.
A solidarity prize fund launched
The collective of parents of students from the Lucie-Aubrac high school in Bollène, where Ernest attends school, launched a solidarity fundraiser, according to Provence.
“We would like to express our support and solidarity with Ernest and his family during this difficult ordeal. This fund is intended to help him overcome this period, meet his immediate needs and finance the care of his dog”explain the organizers.
In one week, more than 18,000 euros were raised.
