Quality of life – Despite the ranking that sees Crotone lose two positions compared to last year, the president of the Province Sergio Ferrari makes an assessment of the positive things that emerge from the survey but also from the work put in place in this year which is coming to an end.
What do you think of this ranking?
We continue to work synergistically with the Municipality of Crotone to get back on top of this ranking which penalizes us with respect to some parameters but sees us making leaps forward with respect to others.
I am referring above all to the data on Protected Areas.
As a provincial administration we are honored to be the managing body of the Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area which is at the center of the actions to protect and enhance the territory and we were right because it is a sensitive aspect to which tourism is also linked.
Recently, for example, we have invested over a million euros in the field of intelligent buoys which serves to safeguard the waters and the underwater environment. Then we decided to entrust a councilor with a delegation for the Vergari Regional Nature Reserve because I believe that together with the Marine Protected Area it is part of a real development strategy that also passes through the Neto Valley and crosses all the specificities of our province .
What can be done to change things?
Obviously we must continue to work with commitment and self-sacrifice. We like to talk about the positive aspects of our territory but in full awareness that there are critical issues that we try to overcome. One for all infrastructures. however, we can see all the improvements that, for example, the Crotone airport has had, the improvements that the railway is about to have with electrification and why not, the state road 106 which at the beginning of the year will see the start of the worksite. Furthermore, the phase of feasibility studies has begun for the Crotone-Sibari section, which is of particular interest to us.
However, Crotone is not a province for children, it improves for young people and this is also influenced by the commitment to school construction.
Since we took office we have put schools at the center of our actions because they deserve attention. As a Province we have put all our skills into play by investing 12 million euros for the seismic adaptation and energy efficiency of school buildings to which are added four interventions of around 1 million and two for the gyms, three of which were inaugurated in these days, the fourth, that of Pertini-Santoni, will be delivered after the Christmas holidays. The opening of the degree course in Medicine and Surgery and Digital Technology in Crotone, the result of synergistic work, certainly influences the improvement of the offer dedicated to young people, and will perhaps influence next year. As far as children are concerned, this is a fact that leaves me perplexed.
We have four Green Flag beaches, certified by pediatricians of free choice as excellent beaches to welcome the little ones. Furthermore, important investments have been made in the various territories also for nursery schools and nursery schools.
