Digital Now 2024: a 4th edition serving innovation and inclusion

The 4th edition of Digital Now, organized on December 18 and 19 in Casablanca, placed inclusive digital at the heart of the debates. Public, private actors and startups came together to define the priorities of the Moroccan digital ecosystem and imagine concrete solutions to accelerate the country’s technological integration.

In a packed room bringing together decision-makers, experts and young innovators, Digital Now 2024 transformed Casablanca into a real crossroads for exchanges around digital technology. The palpable energy of the discussions and presentations reflected the growing importance of technologies in shaping Morocco’s future. From the first interventions, the tone was set. Digital technology is not a simple tool, but a catalyst capable of reducing inequalities and boosting the national economy.

The theme of this edition, “Digital for all – An inclusive and transformative digital”, highlighted concrete solutions to broaden access to technologies, with a particular focus on essential areas such as health, education and financial services. Moroccan startups, policy makers and investors have increased exchanges, creating a collaborative dynamic around innovative projects.

A vision for a connected Morocco
The notable intervention by Abdesslam Hassar, project manager at the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, recalled that Morocco cannot succeed in its digital transition without a solid ecosystem.

This transformation is based on an alliance between organizational reforms, an adapted legal framework and strategic partnerships.

“Moroccan startups embody the future of our digital economy. They provide innovative solutions that meet local needs while having the potential for international impact,” said Abdesslam Hassar.

He also placed emphasis on simplifying administrative procedures and adapting regulations to unlock the potential of young businesses. Specific initiatives were presented, in particular to support very small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The latter, which represent a significant part of the national economic fabric, also benefit from support initiatives aimed at improving their competitiveness and productivity via adapted digital tools.

A collective momentum for an inclusive future
For Hicham Chiguer, president of AUSIM (Association of Information Systems Users in Morocco) also present at this edition, “Moroccan digital must open up more internationally”. He invited participants to adopt a global vision when designing their projects.

“The success of Moroccan companies will depend on their ability to be agile, competitive and open to the world. Today, technology has no borders and our ideas must reflect this reality,” he stressed.

According to him, Morocco’s strategic geographic position, combined with the quality of its talents and a dynamic technological ecosystem, makes it a natural candidate to become an African digital hub. Throughout the workshops and panels, Digital Now 2024 proved that digital inclusion is now a concrete goal.

The innovative solutions presented, ranging from educational platforms to health applications, reflect a shared desire to involve all segments of the population in this transformation. Beyond the economic aspects, the event highlighted the potential of digital to profoundly transform essential sectors such as health and education. Discussions explored concrete solutions to reduce inequalities in access to services using technology.

According to Hassar, “the digitalization of SMEs and public services is essential to guarantee social inclusion and allow all categories of the population to benefit from the advantages of the digital transition.”

Digital Now 2024 has proven, once again, that digital transformation in Morocco is a collective issue. Public and private actors, startups, large companies and institutions came together to exchange ideas and share their vision of an inclusive and transformative digital world. See you for the next edition, where the seeds planted today will, hopefully, bear fruit.
