A vast scam involving false employment contracts in Switzerland. Pope Mamadou Kane, the national fraud of a blind person. Investigators have identified no less than 179 victims across the country in a case of fraud over alleged employment contracts in Switzerland.
Aged 28 and blind, Pape Mamadou Kane was arrested by the Unit 15 Parcelles Assainies police station, before being referred to the Dakar public prosecutor’s office for criminal conspiracy, fraud, forgery and use of forgery.
According to Libération, the man promised his victims an imminent departure for Switzerland, with fictitious contracts within a company called Dada Drilling and Construction (Ddc).
The conditions were simple: provide a passport and pay 1.1 million FCFA (including 100,000 FCFA for application fees).
A. Mbaye, first complainant, handed over 14 passports (including hers) and 1.5 million FCFA. The departure date announced for November 29, 2024 never took place, Pape Mamadou Kane having disappeared.
C. Guèye entrusted 22 passports and 2 million FCFA; A. Hann paid 450,000 FCFA and two passports.
Some victims, like C. Dème of Noto Gouy Drama, enlisted entire groups: 123 passports and 14 million FCFA collected in his village. I. Hann, from Maka Dieng (Tivaouane), recruited 43 people and collected 12.9 million FCFA.
During his arrest in Cambérene, the authorities found 179 passports in his possession.
