Thunderbolt confirmed for Chelsea and Mykhailo Mudryk. The Ukrainian winger, absent from the field since the end of November, was provisionally suspended by the English Football Association (FA) after a positive doping test. If coach Enzo Maresca had mentioned an “illness” to justify his absence, it turns out that Mudryk would have been ruled out due to a suspicious analysis result, as confirmed by Daily Mail. According to the first elements, the player would have ingested a potentially contaminated substance, possibly from abroad. While awaiting the result of sample “B”, the club is conducting an internal investigation, while the player, who denies any intentionality, is fully cooperating with the authorities.
The player will cooperate
Recruited for 100 million euros from Shakhtar Donetsk, Mudryk never fully confirmed the expectations placed on him. Despite notable performances in the Europa Conference League this season, this blow could further tarnish his future at Stamford Bridge. For now, Chelsea publicly supports the player and defers to the final conclusions of the disciplinary authorities. An episode which raises, once again, the question of the management of food supplements in modern football. At the same time, he wanted to break the silence to speak out on this subject.
Mudryk’s press release
“I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to the FA contained a banned substance. This comes as a complete shock as I have NEVER knowingly used banned substances or broken any rules , and I am working closely with my team to determine how this could have happened. I know I did nothing wrong and I remain hopeful that I will return to the field soon. I cannot say more. for now due to confidentiality of the procedure, but I will do it as soon as possible.
