Rafael Louzán was elected on Monday as the new president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the period 2024-2028.
The new president obtained an absolute majority (90 against 43, four blank votes and one draw) against his rival Salvador Gomar during the first vote of the 138 members of the general assembly of the federation.
In a statement to the press on this occasion, Louzán indicated that his mandate will be focused on “transparency, rigor and professionalism” pour “restore prestige” of the institution, noting that it aims to modernize the structures of the RFEF, optimize their operation and develop new sources of income.
As for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the organization of which was officially awarded to Morocco, Portugal and Spain, the new president of the RFEF promised to work with all partners to organize the “world best in history”.
Rafael Louzán, who succeeds Pedro Rocha, becomes the twenty-sixth president of the Spanish football federation, created in 1913.
