Currently coach of the Marseille reserve team, Jean-Pierre Papin is moving closer to Martigues.
In November 2021, Jean-Pierre Papin made his return to Olympique de Marseille. He was then appointed advisor, before being promoted to coach of the reserve team a year later.
At 61, the former striker remains an essential figure in French and European football. His playing career took him from Club Brugge, then to prestigious clubs like AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
As a coach, he has gained numerous experiences, notably at RC Lens, Strasbourg, Châteauroux and Chartres.
Now, a new opportunity seems to be emerging. According to Foot MarketFC Martigues, who play in Ligue 2, have reportedly identified Papin as a potential candidate to replace Thierry Laurey at the head of the team.
This Saturday, the French media published an update, explaining that the track would materialize little by little. Papin could arrive in Martigues in January.
