Taking over the family farm in Carladez in Gaec, Emilien Soulenq was selected to represent the Aubrac breed with his young bull Romarin, at the 2025 Agricultural Show in Paris.
Who would have thought in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis that Emilien Soulenq would attend the International Agricultural Show in Paris next February? Life is a sum of unforeseen events, a reason for it to be lived well. Responsible for hiking mission at the Aubrac Regional Natural Park for eight years, Emilien Soulenq, after making his travels, returned to the family farm, straddling Mur-de-Barrez and Thérondels, to perpetuate the family history. Training in Rodez in his bag, he settled two years ago, in a Joint Agricultural Group (Gaec) with his mother, Nicole, on the borders of Carladez.
“A pride, a recognition”
Awarded with his young bull Romarin at the cantonal competition of Saint-Amans-des-Côts and the departmental competition in Laissac this fall, he was selected to participate in the International Agricultural Show which will take place from February 22 to March 2 in Paris . “We are very happy, it’s a source of pride, a recognition,” confides Emilien, for whom this participation will be a first. A first for the family. There is no doubt that his dad, Jean-Pierre, will be on the trip. “When the planets align, this selection crowns a collective approach, it is the opportunity to show a beautiful breed,” adds Emilien, also not a little proud to show that the Carladez contributes to the fame of the breed.
Full success for Aveyron among young bulls
Eight cows (four young and four old) and eight bulls (four young and four old) were selected at the large hall of Aumont-Aubrac (commune of Peyre-en-Aubrac). In the young category, the four bulls, including Romarin d'Emilien Soulenq, come from Aveyron. Please note that Perle du Gaec d'Aulos in young cows, Impériale by Dominique Rames, Hirondelle by Benoit Miquel in the older cow category and Occitan from Besson breeding in older bulls will represent the department in Paris.
Proof of this is the relaunch of the Livestock Festival for two years in Carladez. All that remains is to pamper Romarin to take control of the fields in Paris. And who knows, win a prize?
