The peanut marketing campaign is in full swing in the Medina Yoro Foula department. According to figures communicated by the head of the departmental rural development service, Mr. Aliou Badji, 40 tons of seeds have already been collected at the Niaming point, while 30 tons of peanuts intended for oil mills were harvested in Medina Yoro Foula .
For this campaign, 44 collection points are planned in the department, with a distribution of 17 points for the collection of seeds and 27 for seeds intended for oil mills. However, this organization remains provisional, because the official list of approved operators and collection points has not yet been published, said Mr. Badji.
In the meantime, the head of rural development is calling on producers to remove seeds from the fields to protect them from the growing threats posed by wandering animals. He also recalled the importance of respecting the floor price set by the authorities at 305 CFA francs per kilogram, urging producers to refuse any sales below this price in order to preserve their income.
