“This cluster will be ambitious in its objectives”: the Montpellier Metropolis is acquiring a cluster dedicated to renewable energies

Players in the renewable energy sector were waiting for him as the Messiah. The Metropolis granted their wishes by setting up a renewable energy cluster, officially launched on December 12.

No better opportunity for the Montpellier Metropolis than the international renewable energies exhibition, EnerGaïa, to launch a cluster dedicated to these. This cluster request came from companies in the renewable energy (EnR) sector, which represents more than 4,500 direct jobs in the region. But creating a gas factory is out of the question.
Also, “this cluster will be light in its structure, but ambitious in its objectives: supporting training and skills development to meet the needs of businesses, strengthening the attractiveness of Montpellier and stimulating innovation“, announced the president of the Metropolis, Michaël Delafosse, on December 12, during the launch of the cluster at the EnerGaïa Forum.

Making Montpellier a strong place in the field of renewable energy

Structured around 6 working groups, these will work on three major themes: training and skills; attractiveness and influence; innovation and governance. Inspired by the model built for MedVallée, the intention is also to develop strategic partnerships with high added value.

To strengthen this dynamic, the cluster will be located at the Halle de l’innovation, in the Cambacérès district, in Montpellier. “This symbolic place, at the crossroads of mobility and transitions, will become a true laboratory of renewable energies“, hopes the President of the Metropolis. And to dream of making Montpellier the European capital of renewable energies.
