Several agents of the Priority Investment Guarantee Fund (FONGIP) were recently dismissed, a decision which fuels debates and tensions within the institution. The Director General, Ndèye Fatou Mbodji, justified these dismissals by explaining that the agents concerned would not have provided convincing responses to the requests for explanations which had been addressed to them.

However, according to information relayed by Les Échos, certain irregularities seem to taint the process. Sources indicate that agents who responded to requests for explanations were still invited to contact Human Resources, before receiving their dismissal letter.

The same sources reveal that certain employees were sanctioned for absences dating back to the time of previous FONGIP leaders, well before the arrival of Ndèye Fatou Mbodji at the head of the institution. “Requests for explanations turn into grounds for dismissal”they denounce. Faced with this situation, several dismissed agents decided to contact the Labor Inspectorate to contest the decision.

For his part, the FONGIP communications officer confirmed the existence of these dismissals, while rejecting the accusations. “The request for explanations is not grounds for dismissal. The agents concerned have accumulated days of absence and have not provided adequate supporting documents”he said.
