The new national report on the state of health of the population, in which the National Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) collaborated closely, was unveiled by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. It was prepared by the national director of public health, Doctor Luc Boileau.
Titled Health portrait of the population according to life course: to act collectivelythis report establishes a portrait of the evolution of the health of Quebecers in recent years.
The document is structured around an individual’s life journey, presenting chapters corresponding to each stage of life, from birth to old age. A section also highlights the state of health of members of the First Nations and Inuit communities, addressing their specificities and issues.
Key challenges and issues, such as social health inequalities, demographic aging and the impacts of climate change are explored throughout the report. In addition, necessary interventions to address these issues are also discussed.
The report also addresses specific societal themes, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and its repercussions, mental health, child development, lifestyle habits, transformations in the world of work and social ties, offering thus an overview of the crucial issues that shape our society.
Several INSPQ experts contributed to the development of this flagship document, particularly with regard to its coordination, the analysis of hundreds of indicators and the writing.
