New York State Police are searching for 22-year-old Léo Dufour, who disappeared during an expedition in the Adirondacks. The young man from Vaudreuil-Dorion has been missing for six days now.
Search teams were deployed on the ground and in the air to find the young hiker before the next snowfall.
The young man’s car was found at the foot of Mount Allen, covered in snow.
Léo Dufour, a regular in the region, has climbed 32 of the 46 mountains over 4,000 feet in the Adirondacks. He left with snowshoes, warm clothes, a headlamp, food and a phone. He was supposed to return home Saturday evening to attend his brother’s hockey game.

The snow in this heavily wooded area complicates the search. The New York State Police (NYSP) hope to locate the young man as quickly as possible, as cold temperatures and strong winds are expected in the coming days.
In interview at First the info on ICI RDI, hiking specialist François-Xavier Bleau affirms that it is difficult to find your way in this part of the Adirondacks. In terms of visibility and orientation, there are few obvious geographical markers
he explained.
According to the New York State Environmental Conservation Agency, ongoing searches have yielded no results to date
