The national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella targets 118,933 children in the Dagana department, we learned from Hubert Lazare Faye, deputy prefect.
”The objective of this campaign is to vaccinate 118,933 children in the twelve health posts in the Dagana health district and the twenty-six posts in the Richard-Toll district,” he said.
Hubert Lazare Faye chaired Tuesday the preparatory meeting for the national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella in the presence of several health and community stakeholders.
The meeting aimed to establish multi-sector collaboration at all levels in order to achieve the objective set at the national level, which is to vaccinate 95% of the target.
”We also want to put all stakeholders at the same level of information in the department and to see together the appropriate measures to take to fully succeed in the campaign in the department of Dagana,” declared Mr. Faye.
He invited all stakeholders, notably community relays, administrative authorities, including the Bajjenou goxx” and district leaders to “become more involved in making this campaign a success”.
Khalifa Ousmane Sall, the Deputy Chief Physician of the Dagana health district, for his part, deplored the poor resources granted to the actors, hoping to receive support from territorial elected officials and health development committees.
Started Monday across the entire national territory, the vaccination campaign against these two diseases concerns children aged 9 months to 14 years old.
