Upon his arrival Monday evening at King Khalid International Airport, Mr. Akhannouch, who was accompanied by the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, was welcomed by Prince Faisal Ben Abdelaziz Ben Ayyaf, mayor of Riyadh.
The “One Water Summit”, which is being held on the sidelines of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), is an initiative led by Saudi Arabia in partnership with France, Kazakhstan and the World Bank to discuss global water scarcity.
This edition, which sees the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and World Bank President Ajay Banga, will bring together hundreds of policy makers, business leaders and experts from around the world. within the pavilion dedicated to the Saudi Arabian Green Initiative in the green zone at COP16 on desertification.
This event will include several thematic sessions aimed at exploring best practices, discovering the latest innovations and reviewing progress towards achieving the Initiative’s objectives, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation for a future more durable.
