Sony Reportedly Launching PlayStation Portal Refresh Ahead of Rumored PS5 Console Launch

A few days ago, a report from Bloomberg suggested that Sony was working on a handheld capable of playing PS5 games locally, and today a new rumor suggests that the PlayStation Portal is getting a makeover. Specifically, this report claims that the Steam handheld will soon be available in black.

As a reminder, Sony launched the PlayStation Portal last year, and since then, the company has already offered an edition of the30th anniversary of the handheld, which is available in gray (Legion Go, currently $472.97 on Amazon). The original, on the other hand, comes in white and matches the colors of the normal PS5 and PS5 Pro.

As for the information regarding the black PlayStation Portal, it comes from Dealabs reporter Billbil-kun, a reliable informant who has already proven himself. This information comes just after the site claimed that Sony is preparing to unveil the Pulse Elite headset, Pulse Explore earphones and the black DualSense Edge controller. It therefore seems that the company is preparing a whole new range of products which will be offered in black.

Coming back to the black PlayStation Portal, it seems that it is offered at the same price as the original PlayStation Portal. This is good news, because the gray edition of the30th anniversary costs more than the normal variant, i.e. $219.99 instead of $199.99. The launch is scheduled for December 3, 2024, and given that date is close, you won’t need to wait long to see if this report is true or not.
