On this occasion, the Gere couple were awarded an award for “their social and environmental work” as part of the “Sierra A Mar” project with the Xala With Heart foundation. This project located in the state of Jalisco, on the Pacific coast of Mexico, aims for “sustainable and regenerative coastal development that will bring economic prosperity and security to the inhabitants of the region”.

After their knowing glances and their gestures of tenderness on the red carpet, Richard Gere and his wife answered questions from the Spanish ELLE. When asked about the film that made her fall in love with her husband, Alejandra Gere answers without hesitation: Time out of Mind. “He’s very sexy in it,” she argues. But the actor has some objections.
“She had no idea who I was when we met,” says Richard Gere. She hadn’t seen any of my films, which was great, I was very happy.” His wife corrects: “wait Richard, I knew who you were, I just hadn’t seen all your films”. To which he retorts to the camera: “she thought I was George Clooney, but other than that, she knew exactly who I was”, causing his other half to laugh.
Married, 4 children
Between Richard and Alejandra Gere, it's a love story that has lasted for 11 and eleven years now. The 75-year-old actor and the daughter of the former vice-president of Real Madrid, 41, got married in 2018 and had two children: Alexander (5 years old), and James (4 years old). Together, they form a blended family with Homer, the 24-year-old eldest son that the actor had with Carey Lowell, and Albert (11 years old), born from Alejandra's previous marriage.
