Aziz Akhannouch meets with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea – Telquel.ma

CThis meeting, which took place in the presence of Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, was an opportunity to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Guinea.

According to the press release, the discussions made it possible to greet the “exemplary bonds of friendship” which unite the two nations, reinforced by the visits of 2014 and 2017. The press release adds that the head of government reiterated Morocco’s commitment to supporting the sustainable economic and social development of Guinea, with emphasis on sectors key sectors such as agriculture, maritime fishing, health, and industry.

The meeting also highlighted the position of the Republic of Guinea regarding the sovereignty of Morocco over its southern provinces, highlighting the importance of the opening of a consulate general of Guinea in Dakhla in January 2020, which marks a significant step in supporting the Moroccan position on the Sahara.

The press release specifies that the two leaders discussed the “mechanisms capable of developing bilateral economic relations”envisioning a model partnership strategy for South-South cooperation within the African continent. This approach is part of the continuity of Morocco’s active diplomacy efforts on the continent, illustrated by the king’s state visits and the signing of several bilateral agreements, including the joint communiqué between the two countries signed in May 2023 and the holding of the 7th session of the Morocco–Guinea Joint Commission in July 2023 in Dakhla.
