Films in… virtual reality

The month of Doc in the Meuse, beyond the screening of ten films in twelve different locations, five libraries were able to discover short films in 360 degree virtual reality offered by Diversion Cinéma. For the second year in a row, the Calvinothèque de Sommelonne has embarked on this adventure.

Friday, November 22 in the early evening and Saturday, November 23, 30 adults and teenagers, with 3D glasses, sat comfortably in the armchairs of the library to join Laurent Ballesta, famous marine biologist, in the tiny atoll of Fakarava and dive next to the largest pack of sharks in the world. They then climbed the summit of Everest, without using oxygen bottles, then discovered the astronauts of future missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond… “You can’t miss this with the 3D glasses, it’s is extraordinary, I loved it! », Comments Blandine Bertaux, whom the Calvins know well from having taught in Haironville.

Also surprising are Paul Klee’s puppets. In virtual reality, they tell, between comic fiction and documentary, the family life of Paul Klee and his flight from the Nazi regime in Switzerland. A major technical challenge. There was also talk of two titles by Joséphine Derobe who will also be at Gondrecourt from November 25 to 29: “The Wedding at Cana” by Veronese in a Venetian staging and “Meet Mortaza”, thirteen minutes from an exile forced of a young Afghan sentenced to death in his country. These six little films were therefore very different from each other. A selection from the Departmental Library in partnership with the Department and an experience to repeat next year!

  • Photo montage from film images.
  • Not a sound in the Calvinothèque, so exciting to discover cinema in virtual reality.
