Amine O., one of the main figures of the drug trafficking clan DZ Mafia, has been in police custody since Tuesday, November 26 in Marseille to be questioned in the investigation into the double assassination that occurred a year ago in the northern districts of the city, Radio France learned on Wednesday, confirming information from Parisian. The detainee, already incarcerated, is suspected of being the order giver in this affair.

On November 11, 2023, a Kalashnikov shooting left two people dead in the parking lot of a McDonald's in the 16th arrondissement of Marseille. Among those killed, a 25-year-old woman with no links to drug trafficking. The shooting also left three people injured. The placement in police custody of Amine O. on Tuesday in the investigation into this double assassination follows a first search in mid-October. During this operation, around ten supposed members of the DZ Mafia were then arrested, suspected of being involved in this same shooting. To question him, the investigators therefore extracted Amine O. from his cell in Villefranche-sur-Saône prison, in the Rhône, where he had been transferred after spending time in the Baumettes isolation district in Marseille and by prison, in Drôme.

Amine O., 30, nicknamed Jalisco, in reference to the Mexican cartel, is one of the decision-makers of the DZ Mafia clan. His name appears in several cases as the instigator of violent actions, specifies a police source. Amine O. is one of those prisoners suspected of continuing to operate drug trafficking, behind bars, using telephones, even going so far as to order assassinations. Inmates who do not have “nothing left to lose, in prisons which are sieves and which no longer play their role of neutralization”confides a source close to the matter.
