Who better than an original Sablais to break a world record in the Vendée Globe?
This Wednesday, November 27, Sébastion Simon (Dubreuil Group) crushed the world record for miles traveled in 24 hours.
The record was previously held by Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa) who covered 579.86 miles in 24 hours, or 1073.9 km.
A record swept away
On board his Imoca Groupe Dubreuil, the 34-year-old skipper traveled 596.23 miles, or 1104.22 kilometers between Tuesday, November 26 at 8:30 a.m. and Wednesday, November 27 at the same time.
A record broken again between Tuesday November 26 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday November 27 at the same time with 615.33 miles covered, or 1139.6 kilometers in 24 hours.
Sébastien Simon is currently at the third place in the ranking.
Soon to be beaten?
The fleet continues to sail at exceptional speed. The group of nine skippers at the head of the race sail at an average speed of between 25 and 30 knots (between 46 and 55km/h).
