This is bad news for the Franco-Spanish lawyer Juan Branco who was suspended from his functions for a period of nine months by the Paris bar, following the publication on social networks of extracts from a criminal procedure ongoing involving actress Nissia B., who accuses her of rape. This broadcast was judged to be a violation of the secrecy of the ongoing investigation.
Juan Branco contested this sanction, considering that it was premature given the opening of the criminal proceedings, and filed an appeal. A hearing is scheduled for 2025. According to Marianne, this case could lead to removal from the Bar Association.

Juan Branco is recognized for his support for Ousmane Sonko, the current Prime Minister of Senegal, when he was an opponent of the regime of former President Macky Sall. In March 2023, he joined Sonko’s defense team, then being sued for defamation. His arrival in Dakar, however, was marked by his rejection, due to his virulent criticism of the Senegalese president, whom he described as a “tyrant”.
In June 2023, after unrest in Senegal, Juan Branco filed a complaint in France and seized the International Criminal Court, accusing the Senegalese regime of crimes against humanity. In response, an international arrest warrant was issued for him. Despite this, he entered Senegal illegally in July 2023, before being arrested at the Mauritanian border. He was charged and imprisoned, then released under judicial supervision before being deported to France.
