Difficult time for Thomas Chabot and his girlfriend: our thoughts are with them

Thomas Chabot and his girlfriend, Marion Pandreau, became targets on social media after it was revealed that Chabot did not want to play for the Montreal Canadiens.

This information, put forward by Shawn Simpson of The Sick Podcast, provoked a wave of negative reactions from Montreal fans.

As a result, Marion Pandreau had to make her Instagram account private to protect herself from derogatory and mean comments, while Chabot was inundated with hostile comments claiming that Montreal fans didn’t want him around either.

Chabot is particularly angry that his list of teams to avoid has been made public, especially since he is from Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce, Quebec.

His list also includes the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks.

Definitely. He doesn’t want to play in Montreal, but he doesn’t want to play under the sun either. We can’t accuse him of not liking winter.

This partial no-movement clause, which was activated for the first time this year, required Chabot to provide a list of ten teams to which he did not wish to be traded.

The defenceman, drafted by the Senators in the first round in 2015, will enter the fifth year of his eight-year, $8 million contract in 2024-25.

Since joining the National League in 2016-17, Chabot has scored 62 goals and amassed 197 assists for a total of 259 points in 432 games.

Despite his impressive performances, this situation created a toxic environment for him and those around him.

This is a sad story that breaks our hearts. We hope that Thomas Chabot and Marion Pandreau will find support and comfort in this difficult time.

While the Ottawa Senators’ president of hockey operations and general manager told reporters that he is always looking to improve his team via trade, rumors are growing around Chabot, especially since the story of this famous list.

Staios is “open for business” for the rest of the summer and swears he’s not done with his work.

“We have been busy for the past few weeks looking for ways and opportunities to add to what we feel is necessary,” said Staios.

“The draft and free agency have been intense, but let’s continue to look at the opportunities ahead.”

“Discussions have been ongoing for a while, and new ones have started to emerge. You never really know until you get to the finish line. It’s hard to predict or anticipate whether more trades will happen before the end of the summer.”

The Ottawa Sun reported that the Senators are trying to deal winger Mathieu Joseph before the end of the summer. The club also traded Jakob Chychrun, who had one year left on his contract at $4.6 million, to the Capitals for peanuts (Nick Jensen and a third-round pick).

League officials say the Senators were looking for a first- and second-round pick or a top prospect in exchange for Chychrun. Staios got screwed all the way.

After a tough draft, where the Sens wanted Tij Iginla and panicked when he was taken by Utah (the team selected defenseman Carter Yakemchuk, a rushed pick at No. 7), the Chychrun trade did nothing to quell the anger of Senators fans.

Staios keeps his options open regarding transactions and explores all opportunities to improve the organization.

“We are looking at all possibilities,” said Staios.

“Sometimes the market dictates whether it’s the right move or not. You identify the player or players you’d like to sign and whether the trade value is something we’re willing to accept.”

“I don’t like to do deals just for the sake of doing deals. We have to be specific in what we’re looking for and detailed in our approach. We’re continuing to work on that.”

But Staios was keen to come out in support of his defender Thomas Chabot with this famous “list scandal.”

Taios denied a rumor Wednesday that the veteran defenseman, who has a no-trade clause, was available.

“I don’t know where it comes from,” said Staios.

“It’s never been discussed once. I don’t get distracted by a lot of things. Probably every player on our team has been the subject of rumors at some point.”

“These are the times we live in. But to go after him and his fiancée is just horrible. I feel for our players. IThere is no truth in this.”

Our thoughts are with Thomas Chabot and his girlfriend. Human nature can indeed become horrible on social media.

Basically, we now understand why Chabot wants nothing to do with Quebec.
