The couple who allegedly kidnapped and beat a teenager after a “sneak-up” mistakenly believed that he was part of a group that had already party on their property, confirmed a police officer who testified at his trial.
Agent Alex Duchesne of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) already knew the residence of Claude Bourgie and Mariama Diaby when he went to the scene on August 16, 2021.
This was because a few weeks earlier, a neighbor of the couple, who knew they were on vacation, had called 911 because of the presence of young people on the property.
“There were around ten young people who were drinking and smoking on the grounds and who were in the swimming pool, we had to expel them,” explained agent Duchesne on Monday at the jury trial of Claude Bourgie and Mariama Diaby.
The police officer is, however, clear: the teenagers he met when he showed up at the scene of the confinement were not the same as those expelled earlier in the summer.
Remember that the Bourgie-Diaby couple is accused of having beaten, kidnapped and then kidnapped a 14-year-old teenager after he and his friends had rung the doorbell of his home before fleeing, a joke commonly known as “sonne-decrisse “.
In their swimming pool?
Last week, one of the teenagers testified that he was “accused of going into their swimming pool when they were traveling”.
According to the SQ agent, Mme Diaby also allegedly told him that they had had “several problems with young people during their absence because groups came to use their swimming pool and their grounds.”
Miriama Diaby is currently undergoing her jury trial at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.

Alex Duchesne was the first police officer to arrive on the scene after one of the victims called 911. He was able to get Simon (fictitious name), who was on a chair, with a rope at his feet out of the garage, he testified.

“He reassured me in the garage that I was safe and escorted me out of the garage,” Simon confirmed earlier Monday.
No complaints
Alex Duchesne then placed Claude Bourgie under arrest. However, he was released on the scene since the teenagers and their parents did not immediately want to file a complaint.
The accused had earlier mentioned on multiple occasions wanting to “talk with the young people to resolve this amicably,” said the SQ agent.
The trial presided over by Judge Gregory Moore will continue Tuesday at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.
