A page will be turned for the French capital. “I will not run for a third term as mayor of Paris”declared Anne Hidalgo, the current PS mayor of the city, in an interview with Monde published Tuesday November 26. The one who has been in charge of the capital since 2014 thus puts an end to a suspense lasting several months over her candidacy. “It’s a decision I made a long time ago”she clarified.

Anne Hidalgo specifies that she wants Rémi Féraud, senator and president of the Paris en commun group on the Paris Council, to succeed her. Several candidates are already known. Among them, the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. She “could be a very good candidate“, Sylvain Maillard, leader of Renaissance Paris, recently estimated on franceinfo.

For his part, Emmanuel Grégoire, former first deputy of Anne Hidalgo, announced his candidacy on November 18. He said he wanted “to be the mayor of the reconciliation of Parisians of this city”.
