Major traffic jams on July 1st on the Brussels Ring Road. Part of the Quatre-Bras tunnel has just been closed this afternoon, according to the Flemish public agency in charge of the work.
The problem is located at the outer ring road (towards Zaventem), and is linked to a manhole cover that has come loose.A team is on its way to repair the damage”the agency said early this afternoon, assuring that it is doing its best to fix the situation as quickly as possible.

Traffic on the outer ring road was temporarily diverted on the surface, causing major traffic jams in the late afternoon.
The Quatre Bras tunnel in Tervueren, on the Brussels outer ring road, has reopened to traffic. The manhole cover that had come loose has been put back in place, according to the Flemish traffic agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer).
The tunnel had been closed around 2 p.m. in the direction of Zaventem. The plaque was put back in place and the passage has been accessible again since 6:40 p.m.
The Quatre Bras tunnel is one of six tunnels that will be completely renovated in the coming years. The first of these is the Léonard tunnel, where work began in April 2023. It is still ongoing.
