Hockey players Joel Quenneville, Stan Bowman and Al MacIsaac will be able to work in the NHL again starting July 10 after being banned in 2021 following the scandal surrounding the sexual assault of former Chicago Blackhawks player Kyle Beach in 2010.
The National Hockey League confirmed this late Monday afternoon.

After accusing video coach Brad Aldrich of sexual assault in 2010, Beach received no support from the Blackhawks. A decade later, a lawsuit against the organization exposed the situation, and an independent investigation forced then-general manager Bowman and Quenneville — who had since become coach of the Florida Panthers — to resign.
The Hawks’ vice-president of hockey operations at the time, Al MacIsaac, was also put through the wringer.
“For the past two and a half years, these individuals were denied the opportunity to work for an NHL team due to their inadequate response when informed of Kyle Beach’s allegations that he had been assaulted by the Blackhawks’ video coach,” the league’s statement read.
All three men admitted their mistake and showed remorse, it is then explained. They also took personal steps to learn from these mistakes.
“The League expects them to continue this commitment in new capacities with the NHL or one of our teams,” the letter also read.
Quenneville, Bowman and MacIsaac can immediately return to looking for NHL work, but they won’t be officially hired until July 10.
