Israeli National Security Minister slams investigation into him

Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israeli Minister of National Security, denounces what he describes as a “coup d’état against democracy”. This reaction follows the opening of an investigation targeting his office, suspected of irregularities in the distribution of weapons.

According to the minister, the investigation is being carried out by an officer whom he had previously dismissed from her post, on the instructions of the Attorney General. Ben-Gvir categorically rejects these accusations, asserting that no irregularities were committed in the distribution of weapons. He accuses the Attorney General and the State Attorney of being “politicized from head to toe” and of trying to “fabricate cases” against the right-wing government. The minister also refers to other investigations that he considers political, notably that concerning Feldstein and a potential investigation for “incitement against the inhabitants of Gaza”. “I am proud of gun reform and I do not intend to allow the Attorney General and State Attorney’s coup to continue,” he said.
