This is a major step in an emblematic case of denunciation of sexual violence which has shaken French cinema for several months. According to Agence France-Presse, whose information was confirmed in MondeBenoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon were summoned, Monday 1is July, to the Brigade for the Protection of Minors (BPM) of the Paris judicial police for placement in police custody. The two filmmakers are accused of rape and violence by several women, including the actress Judith Godrèche, whom they should be confronted by investigators in the coming hours.

” I’m crying. My eyes are no longer eyes. Of all that. (…) I don’t know if I’ll have the strength but I will have it”the actress reacted in a message on her Instagram account. Her lawyer, Laure Heinich, did not wish to comment: “Police custody is subject to the secrecy of the investigation which we wish to preserve during its duration”she explained.

Before the BPM, Benoît Jacquot, 77 years old, will have to respond to the complaint filed on February 6 by Judith Godrèche for “violent rape of a minor under the age of 15” committed by a person in authority. As she told at length to Mondethe actress met the director on the set of the film Beggars in 1986, when she was 14 years old. According to her account, an intimate relationship, which lasted until 1992 and was characterized by sexual, physical and psychological violence, developed between them following this filming.

Other women

The director of Farewell to the Queen further claims that it was a story of shared love. Monde in early February, he said he felt “responsible for having been under the spell of a young girl at a non-canonical age”while admitting that“at 15, you can’t really consent”.
