The work of the 27th edition of the Moulay Ali Chérif University ended on Saturday in Rissani, after two days of constructive exchanges focused on the theme “Water management in the era of the Alaouite Cherifian State” , with the participation of eminent researchers, academics and historiographers.


The closing ceremony of this edition, organized under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, was held in the presence of the wali of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, governor of the province of Errachidia, Essaid Zniber, the director of ‘Archives of Morocco, Latifa Moftaqir, the director of the Royal Archives, Bahija Simou, the representative of the scientific committee of Moulay Ali Chérif University, Mustapha Chabi, elected officials and several personalities from the world of culture and thought.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Chabi highlighted the roles played by Moulay Ali Chérif University as a beacon of culture serving the historic-cultural heritage of the Kingdom, in its different facets.
This edition addressed the theme of water and its socio-cultural and economic dimensions throughout history, particularly in the era of the Alaouite Cherifian State, while basing itself on documents and manuscripts of great academic value, -he said. In this sense, Mr. Chabi highlighted the High Royal Guidelines aimed at combating water stress, and securing the supply of water resources in different areas, notably those of agriculture, water drinking and industry.

For her part, Latifa Moftaqir noted that the Moulay Ali Chérif University constitutes an annual meeting which addresses themes of great importance relating to the history of the Alaouite Cherifian State, adding that the choice made this year on the water issue turns out to be “judicious” in the sense that it deals with a subject that requires more reflection, sharing of ideas and combined efforts of all stakeholders with a view to ensuring the preservation and rationalization of the use of this vital resource
The subjects dealt with by this high forum of culture reflect the openness of the Moulay Ali Chérif University towards its environment, demonstrate its efficient involvement in the various citizen initiatives and contribute to the highlighting of the development efforts carried out under enlightened leadership. of HM King Mohammed VI, she said.
Ms. Mouftaqir also expressed her thanks to the researchers and academics who enriched this edition through their contributions and interactions, as well as to all those who contributed to the success of this event.
