Hidden treasure: some jeans are worth a fortune

Your beloved Levi’s could be worth a small fortune. According to the “New York Post”, a pair of jeans from the brand was recently sold for more than $33,000 (approx. 31,000 francs) on eBay. The American brand’s models manufactured between 1949 and 1954 sell at high prices.

The value comes down to just one small detail: the exterior red label bearing the logo. And this is very important because it is the only element that allows us to date the manufacturing period.

You should look at the small label on the back of the pants. The models most sought after by collectors are the “Big E” Levi’s, that is to say those with the logo with a capital “E”. It states that the pants were made before 1971, before Levi’s decided to switch to the lowercase “e”.

Levi’s “Big E” are therefore considered a rarity. They are a sort of symbol of quality craftsmanship and authentic vintage style.

A model with a capital “E” can see its value rise on the collector’s market because it reflects the origin and history of the brand.
