The Minister of Health, Dr Ibrahima Sy, announced in a circular a significant increase in the on-call bonus for interns and specialist doctors. From now on, these health professionals, who previously received 7,500 CFA francs per shift, will receive 15,000 CFA francs on working days, and 20,000 CFA francs during weekends.
This decision aims to harmonize remuneration with that of public health establishments (EPs), which already apply these new rates. In his communication, Dr Ibrahima Sy expresses his confidence that this increase in the on-call premium, which must still obtain the approval of the hospital boards of directors, will contribute to ensuring optimal functioning of hospital services.
This measure responds to the concerns raised in the demand platform of the Collective of Specialized Physicians (Comes) as well as the Association of Hospital Interns, thus making a point of promoting the work of these professionals, often faced with conditions difficult work.
