Weather: Rain to spoil long moving weekend

Quebecers will have to enjoy the sun this Friday before the arrival of rainy and gloomy weather for the long moving weekend.

It is therefore quite a contrast that we will witness in terms of weather over the next three days with, for Friday, generous sunshine followed by showers almost everywhere in Quebec.

Environment Canada is forecasting sunny weather in the four corners of the province with temperatures oscillating between 20 degrees in Eastern Quebec and 22 and 23 degrees elsewhere, notably in Montreal.

But this splendid weather under azure skies will be ancient history by the end of the week, when a visibly strong low pressure system will head towards Quebec to affect all sectors with a lot of rain, according to the federal agency.

On Saturday, showers will affect the southwest and centre of the province, from the Ottawa Valley and Abitibi to Saguenay, through the St. Lawrence River Valley and Estrie, while Eastern Quebec will be spared, but clouds will be omnipresent.

The mercury will not go crazy in the presence of this rainy weather, while maximum temperatures are expected in Montreal with 24 degrees, but it will be cooler elsewhere, notably in the eastern sectors of the province, such as the Côte- North where it will be 17 degrees.

For Sunday, showers will persist in the center of the province with less intensity, before affecting the east of the province. At the same time, the weather will be cloudy in southwestern Quebec with possible intermittent rain in Montreal.

The sun will return next week, bringing with it the mercury to rise, while Quebec could experience another heat wave with temperatures reaching almost 30 degrees in southern Quebec.
