The Moroccan Pavilion at COP29, work on which continues in Baku, Azerbaijan, is a true showcase of the progress made by the Kingdom, which has established itself as a key player in the fight against climate change.
Through its pavilion, which is buzzing with activities, meetings and side-events, Morocco highlights its ambitious trajectory in terms of energy transition and sustainable development and reaffirms its commitment to the climate.
An essential crossroads for discussions on the challenges and solutions linked to mitigating the effects of climate change, the Moroccan Pavilion highlights the role of the Kingdom in the development of sustainable models adapted to global climate issues, as well as innovative projects in other sectors, such as energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture and water management.
This platform for dialogue and sharing of expertise is a conducive space to examine the issues affecting financing and adaptation to climate change, and constitutes an opportunity to bring together national and international experts to discuss practical solutions to current global challenges.
“We are very delighted with what the Moroccan Pavilion presents in terms of activities and the quality of the panelists, who addressed a whole set of themes related to climate change, including adaptation, energy transition, decarbonization and sustainability,” underlined, in a statement to MAP, the president of the International Center for Research and Research Capacity Building, under Cadi Ayyad University, Kholoud Kahime.
“Morocco is following the roadmap that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has drawn up, and thanks to this vision, we have presented the initiatives that Morocco has carried out,” she affirmed.
“The Kingdom is a pioneer in the field,” she rejoiced, adding that “Moroccan experts are doing excellent work which is the pride of our country”.
For his part, the coordinator of the Secretariat of the International Platform for Adaptation Metrics (IPAM), Karim Anegay, indicated that the program of the Morocco Pavilion is “dense and allows us to present our work and take part in many events.
The qualitative participation of Morocco in this session, which hosted the COP22 in 2016 in Marrakech, thus made it possible to highlight the progress made and the commitment of the kingdom in matters of climate and energy, which earned it notable progress in the implementation of ambitious policies to reduce its carbon footprint, develop renewable energies and promote a greener economy.
Two days before the end of the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the Morocco Pavilion continues to welcome the various actors of this high mass and to contribute to efforts for greater climate ambition.
