The two partners sealed an agreement on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday sharing out the seats at the provincial college of Walloon Brabant. The MR will ultimately have three seats contrary to the agreement that was reached at the level of party presidents (2 seats for the MR and 2 seats for Les Engagés). Obviously, it was the local MR who refused the agreement signed by national president Georges-Louis Bouchez. But for the Liberals of Walloon Brabant, it is rather a Pyrrhic victory, because even if they obtain three seats in the provincial college, the only provincial deputy of the Engagés, Benjamin Goes, will inherit broad powers (housing, social action, Nurseries, Health, Mobility). Furthermore, the Centrists also inherit the presidency of the large intermunicipal economic development association of Walloon Brabant (InBW) which has a turnover of more than 127 million euros and employs nearly 500 employees. In Hainaut, the return of the PS-MR-Les Engagés tripartite should soon be announced for the provincial majority, according to our information.
White smoke in Walloon Brabant where the partners (MR, Les Engagés) finally reached an agreement on the night of Tuesday 19 to Wednesday 20 November 2024 to lead the Province for the next 6 years (27 municipalities). According to the press release sent by the local MR, the coalition between the two parties is confirmed, but the distribution of mandates in the provincial college has changed.
