In collaboration with the Lagos Business School Hospitality Initiative, CityBlue Hotels aims to accelerate its expansion in West Africa. This project includes the planned opening of a hotel in Accra, Ghana, by the end of the year.

Lagos Business School, considered the premier business school in Africa, recently appointed Jameel Verjee, Founder and CEO of CityBlue Hotels, to its Hospitality Initiative Advisory Board. There he joins other industry leaders such as Trevor Ward and Mossadeck Bally.

Belinda Nwosu, academic director of the LBS Hospitality Initiative, said that this initiative represents a support for the development and growth of the hospitality sector in Nigeria and Africa. It is based on four main pillars: advice, engagement, research and capacity building.

CityBlue Hotels, active in five countries in sub-Saharan Africa, is a specialist hospitality and technology company with a decade of existence. Its partnership with the LBS Hosting Initiative aims to not only accelerate its expansion, but also strengthen executive leadership and expand its ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategy across sub-Saharan Africa .

At the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF), Dr. Nwosu expressed his satisfaction at having Jameel Verjee among the advisory board members of the initiative. She highlighted that her skills and resilience will greatly benefit the objective of co-creating solutions tailored to regional players while building a local talent pipeline for executive leadership in the hospitality industry.

While speaking at AHIF, Jameel Verjee expressed his excitement about working with Lagos Business School. He mentioned that this collaboration represents a major opportunity for CityBlue Hotels, stressing that Nigeria, as the most populous country in Africa, offers immense potential for knowledge and technology-led growth.

According to a press release from the APO Group distributed on behalf of CityBlue Hotels, this alliance with the LBS Hospitality Initiative is expected to revolutionize the development of hotel executives in Africa, in line with the mission of the Lagos Business School to train responsible leaders to promote the growth of the continent.
