Clédor Sène takes the opposite view of Professor Maurice Soudiekh Dione and journalist Daouda Mine, who believe that Ousmane Sonko should occupy the post of president of the National Assembly.
According to him, although this position is important as the second person in the state, it remains honorary. The main role of the President of the National Assembly is to chair sessions and ensure order within the hemicycle.but this is not of great importance compared to the position of Head of Government, he says.
Clédor Sène continues by emphasizing that a president of a parliamentary group has a more active and more effective role than that of the President of the Assembly.
For him, Ousmane Sonko should instead appoint a president of the National Assembly and a president of a parliamentary group, while retaining his role as Prime Minister and leading the government, in particular the Ministry of the Interior and the territorial command. In his eyes, the more honorary position of President of the National Assembly would be better suited to an older person with great experience and wisdom acquired over the years. “Ousmane Sonko president of the National Assembly, it would be a waste”, he concluded.
