Due to expected heavy rain, the Royal Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow warning in several Walloon provinces from 6 p.m. this Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
This evening, further continuous rain will resume across the country. They will be followed by showers during the afternoon of Tuesday. It is in the southern provinces of the Sambre-et-Meuse furrow that the precipitation will be the most abundant over the next 24 hours with additional accumulations regularly reaching 20 to 30 mm. In the province of Luxembourg and in the Liège Ardennes, these accumulations will even reach 30 to 40 mm (more locally 50 mm). This is why the Royal Institute of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for these areas from 6 p.m. this Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The 1722 activated
The number 1722 dedicated to non-urgent interventions by firefighters was activated due to a risk of storm or flooding, the FPS Interior indicated in a press release. to prevent emergency lines from being clogged with calls for interventions that can wait. In the event of damage caused by a storm or water damage for which assistance from the fire brigade is required, you must therefore dial this number. If a life is in danger, you should call 112. However, the FPS recommends as a priority the use of the electronic counter 1722.be for non-urgent interventions. A request for assistance sent via this route is directly transmitted to the firefighters, while the call to 1722 will first go through the emergency center operators.
Snow Tuesday
Tuesday evening, the rain will gradually be replaced by a little snow on the heights of the Ardennes, then it will gradually become drier during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
On Wednesday, clearings will alternate with cloudy periods, sometimes bringing showers, or even melting snow on the hills. In the plains, these showers may also take on a wintry character at times. One or another thunderclap will not be ruled out either. The maxima will vary from 0 degrees in Hautes-Fagnes to 5 or 6 degrees at sea.
