From 3 p.m., Carlos Tavarès will carry out “a field visit” and in particular two plastic injection and shoeing workshops set up to accommodate the new CR3 electric vehicle.

What about the closure of the tool workshop?
The discussions started will also turn towards the subject of employment ? On June 27, 2024, Stellantis announced that the tool workshop at the Rennes factory (manufacturing the molds for automobile parts) would close in the fall of 2024, employing around 80 employees on permanent and fixed-term contracts. Workshop which would gradually merge into that of plastic injection.
Laurent Valy, union representative of the CFDT section at Stellantis Rennes, then denounced “a significant gap in the group’s strategic choice” and, in fine, « a sharp loss of jobs » ; underlining the presence of “a voluntary departure plan”.
Several visits
This is not the first time that the big boss of Stellantis has visited the Rennes factory. The last ones date back to 2018and, more recently, to June 2023.
Carlos Tavarès had exchanged at this time with company employees ; the CR3 project was not yet on the discussion agenda.
