Meknes – A batch of equipment and wheelchairs were handed over on Monday in Meknes for the benefit of people with specific needs as part of the celebration of the 69th anniversary of Independence Day.
Thus, the governor of the prefecture of Meknes, Abdelghani Sabbar, distributed wheelchairs for the benefit of a group of disabled people, including children. This operation, which involved 300 people, was financed by the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) to the tune of more than 3.4 million dirhams (MDH).
It intervenes within the framework of the program relating to the support of people in precarious situations and aims to improve the living conditions of this category and strengthen their socio-economic integration.
Subsequently, the governor of the prefecture of Meknes handed over the keys of a school transport bus to the children taken care of at the socio-educational center for children with Down syndrome in Sidi Bouzekri.
The vehicle was acquired as part of the “Support for people in precarious situations” program of the third phase of the INDH. With a total investment of more than 358,000 DH, this bus strengthens the fleet of school vehicles dedicated to vulnerable children in general and those with specific needs continuing their studies in reception centers set up at the provincial level.
According to data from the Social Action Division (DAS) of the Meknes prefecture, this bus brings to 26 the number of vehicles made available to vulnerable children by the INDH, including 23 dedicated to disabled children.
These vehicles required the mobilization of an investment of more than 9.5 million dirhams, including a contribution from the INDH of more than 8.1 million dirhams. They benefit 1,240 people.
In a statement to MAP, the head of the DAS in the prefecture of Meknes, Abdelmalek Abdelhabib, emphasized the importance of these actions of the INDH in improving the living conditions of people in situations of precariousness, particularly children with specific needs, adding that this initiative is likely to improve the living, schooling and travel conditions of this category.
It also demonstrates the interest shown by the INDH in improving the situation of vulnerable children through its support program for people in precarious situations, he noted.
Around forty checks were also distributed for the benefit of project leaders with specific needs as part of the program to promote professional integration and income-generating activities in this category, and this at the initiative of the provincial delegation of National Assistance.
The provincial delegate of National Mutual Aid, Yassine Afrani, indicated that this action aims to strengthen the socio-professional integration of people with specific needs in compliance with international conventions signed by the Kingdom and the provisions of the Constitution on the subject. .
