The Hezbollah terrorist group confirmed Sunday evening the death of its main spokesperson in an Israeli army strike in Beirut earlier in the day.
At least six people in total were killed on Sunday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said, in two Israeli strikes in the center of Beirut, including Hezbollah media chief Mohammad Afif.
A first bombing “left four dead, including a woman, and 14 injured, including two children,” the ministry said in an upwardly revised assessment.

A second Israeli bombing took place Sunday evening on the Mar Elias shopping district, leaving two dead and 13 injured, according to the Ministry of Health.
Mohammad Afif was Hezbollah’s head of media relations.
He was killed in a strike on the headquarters of the Syrian Ba’ath Party in central Beirut, not in the terrorist group’s stronghold of Dahiyeh, in the southern suburbs of the capital.

After the terrorist group announced his death, the Israeli army confirmed that it had eliminated Afif earlier today.
The Israeli army considers him the main propagandist and spokesperson for Hezbollah.
A member of Hezbollah since the early 1980s, Afif was part of Hassan Nasrallah’s inner circle. Afif “was directly involved in Hezbollah’s terrorist activity against the State of Israel,” the Israeli army said in a statement.
He “exercised significant influence over Hezbollah’s military operations,” the Israeli army added in a statement.
The Israeli military specifies that Afif “was in contact with senior officials and directly involved in the advancement and execution of Hezbollah’s terrorist activities against Israel. »
“In addition, Afif ordered Hezbollah operatives to collect images on the ground, in order to use them for Hezbollah’s propaganda and psychological terror,” the statement continued.
It was also he who, in the name of Hezbollah, claimed responsibility for the drone attack that targeted the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea on October 22.
“Messages broadcast by Afif to Lebanese media glorified and incited terrorist activities against the State of Israel, and he was responsible for numerous psychological terror operations against the Israeli public,” the Israeli military added.
At least five other people were killed on Sunday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said, in two Israeli strikes in the center of Beirut.
